Wanted: Doctors FORE Scholarships! Come play a Texas Scramble and help build a scholarship fund for medical students. The tournament, hosted by the Medical Alumni Association, is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 12, at the Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas. A shotgun start is set for noon. The event kicks off activities in conjunction with the association's Alumni Reunion Weekend.

The Medical Alumni Association, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to assisting current students. Activities include awarding scholarship assistance to academically deserving students, recognizing the recipient of the annual "Paul Cutler Award for Clinical Excellence," coordinating the HOST Program (Help Our Students Travel) for fourth-year medical students and residents, and having an alumni presence at student orientation and commencement. The Medical Alumni Association also sponsors individual class projects.

Tournament fees are $125 for alumni association members and $150 and $165 for non-members. Alumni who cannot otherwise participate are encouraged to sponsor a student to play and to provide an important networking opportunity for students and alumni. Registration fees include green fees, cart, lunch and an awards reception. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams, hole-in-one, closest-to-the-pin, straightest drive and putting contest.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Current sponsors include AMGtech and Dr. Marvin S. Belasco.

Individuals and companies interested in playing or in sponsorship opportunities should visit the tournament's secure, online registration page at or call Kathy Hill at (210) 270-9530 for more information.
