Employees with seniority to receive raises first
Staff raises were approved this year by the 177th Legislative Session, which took place Jan. 9 through May 28. All non-faculty employees will receive a 4 percent increase in their paychecks either this September or in September 2002 or 2003 depending on when they began working at the Health Science Center.
Staff members who began working at the Health Science Center on or before Sept. 1, 2000 will receive increases in their Oct. 1 paychecks. Those who began working at the UTHSC between Sept. 2, 2000 and Feb. 28, 2001 will receive raises in their Oct. 1, 2002 paychecks. Raises for those who began working between March 1, 2001 and Aug. 31, 2002 will become effective on March 1, 2003. Employees who transfer between departments within the UTHSC or who come directly from another state agency, with no off time during the eligible time periods, still qualify for a raise.
Those who begin working at the UTHSC on Sept. 1, 2002 or later are not eligible to receive an increase.
"Subject to availability of funds, there may be additional increases in the second year of the legislative biennium," said Tony Ramirez, director of human resources.
Employees with questions or concerns about their raises should speak to their department administrators.
