Dr. Chaudhuri receives invitation to national VA chiefs' meeting

Dr. Tuhin K. Chaudhuri, radiology, will participate in the National Association of VA Chiefs Nuclear Medicine meeting. Dr. Chaudhuri secured the invitation after presenting his breakthrough research at the 48th annual Society of Nuclear Medicine meeting in Canada.

Dr. Chaudhuri uncovered a new, non-invasive technique to accurately detect the regression of coronary artery blockage after aggressive drug therapy. Dr. Chaudhuri's findings are published in the June 2001 edition of Circulation.

The Journal of Nuclear Medicine also published Dr. Chaudhuri's abstract titled "The Utility of Baseline and One-Year Follow-up 99mTcSestamibi Gated SPECT Imaging in Assessing Percutaneous Coronary Interventionand Anti-Ischemic Therapy." The findings are in the May 2001 edition.

As a participant in the VA chiefs' nuclear medicine meeting, Dr. Chaudhuri will review current developments in the Veterans Administration nuclear medicine community and provide recommendations, at the national level, to the program director and deputy director of the Nuclear Medicine Service and Radiation Safety Committee. Dr. Chaudhuri served as a past president and chair of an ad hoc committee of the national organization.

In addition to serving as a professor of radiology at the Health Science Center, he is the chief of the nuclear medicine service in the South Texas Veterans Health Care System.
