Epilepsy Fellowship Program

This is a one-year ACGME-approved fellowship training program in adult epilepsy at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The program offers broad epilepsy training at one of the largest level-4 NAEC epilepsy centers in Texas (9 epileptologists, 2 epilepsy-trained neurosurgeons, a state-of-the-art 14-bed epilepsy monitoring unit). Rotations are available at the University Hospital, a level-1 trauma center, and the South Texas Veterans Administration Hospital. Clinical epilepsy training is accomplished by an extensive didactic curriculum, exposure to a diverse patient population in several epilepsy clinics and to a broad procedural range (routine and continuous scalp EEG monitoring, phase I and II monitoring including stereo-EEG, advanced structural and functional neuroimaging, and traditional epilepsy surgery, laser ablation, and neurostimulation (VNS, RNS) techniques). Clinical and translational research mentorship and electives are also provided.

Program Requirements: Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency program. The program is available as a 1-year standalone epilepsy track, or the 2 year of a combined 2-year clinical neurophysiology-epilepsy track. Openings are available for July 2016-2018.

To apply please send CV, personal statement, USMLE transcript, 3 letters of recommendation with one being from the program director of your Neurology residency program sent directly from the person writing the letter. Electronic version preferred.
