Faculty at the Health Science Center, along with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care, the University Health System and other partners, are working to ensure that children receive the most comprehensive health care available.

Itís an alliance that pairs top researchers, physicians and surgeons with first-rate health care facilities, information and technology.

This summer, Thomas C. Mayes, M.D., M.B.A., professor and chair of the department of pediatrics at the Health Science Center, will assume the role of physician-in-chief of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Childrenís Hospital. This is the first time a Health Science Center faculty member will serve in this crucial role.

"With Dr. Mayes at the helm and Health Science Center faculty members working hand in hand with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care physicians and staff, those from the University Health System and our other partners, San Antonio is positioned to be a hub of unparalleled health care and new discoveries and technology that will benefit children all over the world."

- Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., Health Science Center president
