Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics Faculty

UT Health School of Medicine and the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics is home to world-class scientists and educators representing broad expertise in many specialty areas of basic and clinical immunology, and of the infectious process demonstrated by microbial agents including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

Surrounded by modern facilities and equipment, these investigators use cutting-edge techniques and research strategies to uncover relationships between our immune defenses and biological threats in our world.

Furthermore, these same investigators are skilled educators, able to bring their knowledge to the classroom and to students training in their laboratories.

Additionally, the majority of our faculty members maintain close relationships and collaborations with faculty members in other UTHSCSA basic science departments. Additionally, there are opportunities for collaborations with an exceptional group of physicians and clinical faculty. This guarantees that students in the MI&I program learn about the principles of immunology and infection, and have the opportunity for frequent interactions with the clinical community.
