My area of interest includes the determining the effects of Ebola infection on cellular translation. Ebola produces its proteins by using cellular machinery to translate their 5’ capped mRNA. Usurping protein translation by promoting viral protein production, often at the expense of cellular protein production, is essential for the replication strategy of many viruses. I am interested in how the virus manipulates this machinery to promote viral replication during infection.
