MED ED | A UTHSCSA PROGRAM

MENTORING  |  WHAT IS THE BEST WAY FOR ME TO LEARN?

No book or workshop can replace the experience you get learning something first-hand. For that reason, the Med Ed Program, in conjunction with the Office of Recruitment and Science Outreach at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio have developed a cyber-mentorship program whereby students are paired with faculty and staff at the Health Science Center. Students will have the opportunity to network and correspond with professionals in their field of interest at their convenience via email.

In addition to the cyber-mentorship program, the Med Ed Program has also identified many health care professionals within the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo who are eager to mentor students locally. Based on career interest, high school and college students have the opportunity to be paired with a professional mentor to spend time in his or her office, clinic, or place of business. Students will be able to ask questions and experience first-hand what life is like as a doctor, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, etc.
