MED ED | A UTHSCSA PROGRAM

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT  |  HOW WILL MED ED HELP ME?

The Med Ed Program staff works year-round to provide interesting and relevant information to students. As an aspiring health care professional, your foundation in math, science, and communication skills is extremely important. All Med Ed Program academic opportunities are focused on these areas. Opportunities are presented in the form of evening workshops, Saturday sessions, and summer camps.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT  |  HOW DO I GET READY FOR COLLEGE?

A big part of the “package” you present to colleges, scholarship committees, special programs, and potential employers has nothing to do with your grades or coursework. In fact, the very “package” that you present is sometimes much more important than what it contains. What does this mean?

A student can be academically gifted, having made perfect grades and perfect test scores… however, if all of that does not get presented in a manner that is professional, dignified, and attractive to a committee, a lesser qualified student may be selected instead.

So what is this “package” all about? Your professional “package” includes your ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Are you able to complete an effective interview? Are you able to present a professional resume? Are you able to express your goals and ambitions eloquently and concisely through the personal essay? Do you know how to conduct yourself in a professional situation? Are you able to manage your time efficiently? Some students have mastered some or all of these skills, but most have not. The Med Ed Program can help you put your best foot forward.
