More than 900 to receive degrees at UT Health Science Center

SAN ANTONIO (May 9, 2013) — According to preliminary figures, 907 students are candidates for degrees or certificates this month at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

More than 220 medical students are projected to receive the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the School of Medicine and move forward into residency programs. Nearly 100 dental students are expected to receive the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree.

The School of Health Professions, which educates and trains physical therapists, respiratory therapists, physician assistants, clinical laboratory scientists and other professionals, is projected to graduate 285 students, including 60 with doctoral degrees and 66 with master’s degrees.

The School of Nursing currently is expected to award 73 master’s and doctoral degrees and 134 Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is projected to award 59 degrees, including 12 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in several disciplines.

Dental School
When: May 25, 2 p.m.
Where: Bill Greehey Arena
Speaker: Teresa Ann Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., professor and dean, University of Florida College of Dentistry

School of Medicine
When: May 26, 9 a.m.
Where: Bill Greehey Arena
Speaker: Sen. Leticia Van de Putte

School of Nursing
