SAN ANTONIO (June 24, 2014) ― Steven Bailey, M.D.
, was recently inducted into the inaugural 2014 Class of Master Fellows of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), the professional medical society for adult and pediatric invasive/interventional cardiologists.
Dr. Bailey is professor and chief of the Janey and Dolph Briscoe Division of Cardiology
at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. He is a cardiologist with UT Medicine San Antonio
, the clinical practice of the School of Medicine at the UT Health Science Center.
Dr. Bailey is the endowed holder of the Janey Briscoe Distinguished University Chair in Cardiovascular Research and directs the Janey Briscoe Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Research. The center dovetails molecular biology studies at the Health Science Center with the clinical work of the cardiac catheterization laboratories at University Hospital and the South Texas Veterans Health Care System.Master fellow designation

Dr. Bailey’s clinical focus is in structural and valvular heart disease as well as vascular blockages. He research is currently focused on the effects of NOX (a family of genes) subtypes in promoting cardiovascular disease, and translational research in the field of nanotechnologies and nanosensors.
