UTHSC's Donly is Pediatric Dentist of the Year

San Antonio (May 27, 2003) — Kevin J. Donly, D.D.S., professor and postdoctoral program director in the department of pediatric dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSC), has been named Pediatric Dentist of the Year by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Foundation.

"Since my first association with Dr. Donly, I have continued to be impressed by his abilities. He is a true leader in every aspect of his professional career," said Brent P. Lin, D.M.D, assistant professor in the department of pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Donly's leadership extends beyond his work at the Health Science Center. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, past president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children and previous chair of the Public Information Committee for the AAPD.

"As an educator, Dr. Donly demonstrates an inventive mind and unique talent in teaching," Dr. Lin said. "He stimulates the thinking process and enhances the learning experience of residents, externs and students at lectures and during their clinical rotations. He is a wonderful mentor to his residents and junior faculty in the department."

The AAPD selected Dr. Donly for his contributions to dentistry and the specialty of pediatric dentistry through clinical practice, academics, research or policy development during his career. He received the award May 25 at the AAPD's 56th Annual Session in New York City.
