School of Nursing ranked among nation's best (3/24/98)

The new 1998 U.S. News & World Report ranking of graduate schools in the United States has ranked the School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio among the "Best Graduate Schools" in the country.

Of the 306 graduate nursing programs in the United States, the Health Science Center's School of Nursing is ranked 41st.

"The faculty and students are very proud of this recognition of our school," said Janet Allan, PhD, nursing dean. "We look forward to achieving higher rankings in the future, as our innovative and exemplary graduate nursing program continues to attract high quality students and faculty."

The Health Science Center offers the master of science in nursing and the doctor of philosophy with four possible areas of specialization. Specialties include pediatric nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, community health care systems in nursing, and acute nursing care of the adult.

Approximately 200 students are currently enrolled in graduate nursing studies at the Health Science Center.
