Price chairs nationwide council (3-21-00)

Robert B. Price, executive vice president at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been asked to serve as chairman of the board of the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR). He served in that position once before, in 1996.

The COGR is a nationwide association of research universities with the primary purpose of developing policies specific to federally sponsored programs at colleges and universities. The council provides information to its membership regarding the government's regulations and practices concerning research, and makes certain the government understands academic operations and the impact that federal regulations may have on research institutions.

Price served as a COGR board member from 1980 to 1986 and was re-elected to the board in 1995. He joined the Health Science Center in 1972 following four years with U. T. Arlington and 12 years with Texas Tech University.
