WHAT: "Science Expo 2002" at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2
WHERE: Lecture hall foyer (near library) and classrooms at the Health Science Center, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive in the South Texas Medical Center
WHO: Health Science Center faculty speaking about health and research careers to hundreds of high school students, parents, teachers and counselors from San Antonio and surrounding areas

A representative from the National Institutes of Health will speak about the rewards of health science careers.

WHY: Shortages of professionals in nursing and other fields has led to increased demand for outstanding students to enter the health professions. As the U.S. population grows, especially the burgeoning population over 65, more health providers and researchers will be needed.
VISUALS: Tables with creative displays, crowds of interested students, and tours of laboratories. For more information, the public may call Irene Chapa, Ph.D., event coordinator at the Health Science Center, at (210) 567-3941.

Contact: Will Sansom, (210) 567-2570, or Irene Chapa, 567-3941
