Dental School's Marshall wins national teaching award

San Antonio (April 9, 2003) — The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio congratulates Thomas D. Marshall, M.S.Ed., D.D.S., who is the winner of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honor Society's Stephen H. Leeper Award for Teaching Excellence. Dr. Marshall is an associate professor in the department of restorative dentistry.

"I have been blessed to have been given the opportunity to be associated with such wonderful students, faculty and administrators," Dr. Marshall said.

Dr. Marshall has enjoyed teaching at the Health Science Center since 1980. He has received numerous teaching awards and recognition on campus, and his students repeatedly have honored him with teaching awards.

"Dr. Leeper is a good friend and colleague of mine from the University of Nebraska. This award represents his high regard for excellence in teaching. I can think of no better person to receive it than Dr. Marshall," said Kenneth Kalkwarf, D.D.S., dean of the Dental School and former national OKU president. "His impact on our dental students reflects the spirit in which this award was created, and we're proud to have him on our faculty."
