Dermatology division chief named (8/4/98)Ronald E. Grimwood, MD, has been appointed chief of the division of dermatology in the department of medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He succeeds Richard DeVillez, MD, chief of dermatology from 1980 to 1998, who remains on faculty part time. Dr. DeVillez conducted numerous dermatological clinical studies and has patented his facial acne scrub known as Brevoxyl.
"I have known Dr. DeVillez for several years, and he suggested that I consider the position," says Dr. Grimwood. "My goal as division chief is to maintain the current standards of excellent teaching and high standards of patient care."
Dr. Grimwood received his bachelor's of zoology and medical degree from Ohio State University in 1971. He completed his residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colo.
Dr. Grimwood served 21 years in the U. S. Air Force, ending his career at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, as chief of dermatology. Before joining the Health Science Center, Dr. Grimwood was in private practice in Corpus Christi.
He plans to expand services in the area of immunopathology of skin-related diseases to the city and beyond.
