The UT Health Science Center Regional Campus in Laredo is home to innovative educational, research and community-centric programs. The Dental Education Program, part of the Dental School at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, provides professional dental educational and training opportunities, in collaboration with local partners. The South Texas Environmental Education and Research (STEER) program, the foundation for a four-year dual M.D./M.P.H. degree program, educates medical, public health and health professions students while conducting community-based research. The Regional Campus continues in its proud tradition of service to the communities of the Rio Grande Valley through many local outreach programs. This tradition will now grow in its impact through the initiation of the UT South Texas Border Community Obesity and Diabetes Program that combines research, education and community engagement to create the changes needed to reduce obesity and diabetes, which are so prevalent across the region.
