Photo gallery of Saks’ celebration illustrates the ‘event of the year’
Saks Loves San Antonio – Celebrating 20 Years has “upped the party ante,” according to the San Antonio Express-News, with its extravagant celebration that benefited the Health Science Center’s Children’s Cancer Research Institute. Saks closed the store to the public to host a gala that has been labeled the event of the year.
The event that unveiled Saks’ newly-renovated store in North Star Mall raised $50,000 for the CCRI.
More than 1,200 guests enjoyed gourmet foods, intricate desserts, a mini casino and a variety of drinks, which included unique chocolate dessert drinks and specialty drinks made for Saks Fifth Avenue. A variety of drinks were compliments of Grey Goose Vodka, which was a sponsor of the event. Sushi, ceviche, tenderloin, quail, duck, soup shooter and chocolate bars attracted hundreds of guests who wanted a taste of the unique menu.
Among the guests were co-hosts Barbie and Toby O’Connor, Henry Muñoz, District Attorney Susan Reed, Saks New York President Andrew Jennings and renowned fashion designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka. Chic fashion models paraded the store throughout the evening revealing Badgley Mischka’s elegant, yet classic designs of spring 2006.
“We were delighted to have such a wonderful celebration and to welcome so many guests into our store,” said Bobby Dees, vice president and manager of Saks. “But, this was all for the CCRI. We’re proud to say we had such a successful event for such a great cause.”
