Rudy Gomez, M.B.A., CHC, will receive a national award from the American Association of Colleges of Nurses (AACN) on April 18. Gomez is assistant dean for administration and the business officer in the School of Nursing at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. A study published April 4 in the <i>New England Journal of Medicine</i> recommends a dramatic shift in the way doctors treat metastatic prostate cancer. Ian M. Thompson Jr., M.D., director of the Cancer Therapy & Research Center at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, is senior author of the international study. Despite the side effects, continuous treatment for metastatic prostate cancer was shown to extend men’s lives. .....more»
