Job Description:
Plan, design and perform experiments. Collect, analyze (including statistical analyses), and interpret data. Adapt continuing experiments based on previous findings. Troubleshoot experiments. Work with animal models and human tissue. Prepare applications and progress reports to regulatory departments. Write manuscripts and prepare figures for publications. Work with PI on grant applications, including literature searches and figure preparation. Become knowledge resource for project. Anticipated duration 12-18 months.


Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree, specific professional, with 2 years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in academic research using rodent models, molecular biology techniques, enzyme assays, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence microscopy. Familiar with DNA repair assays. Experience with next generation sequencing and interpretation of data. Familiarity with IACUC and IRB applications, rules and regulations. Self-motivated and productive. Ability to work well alone or in small group.


    Duty 1 (70%): Plan, deisgn and perform experiments. Collect, analyze and interpret data. Recommend next experiments. Troubleshoot experiments. Develop new procedures, assays and techniques as needed. Maintain animal colonies.


    Duty 2 (15%): Write scientific manuscripts. Help prepare grant applications, including figures and literature searches. Prepare abstracts and posters for scientific meetings. Become intellectual and knowledge resource for projects.


    Duty 3 (5%): Prepare IACUC and IRB applications and progress reports. Maintain laboratory, lab supplies, and lab equipment. Ensure lab safety. Perform lab equipment and chemical inventories. Order supplies.


    Duty 4 (5%): Teach/train students and visiting scientists.


    Duty 5 (5%): Oversee departmental shared equipment and training on equipment as needed.
